Governor Kemp's Order to Shelter in Place

April 3, 2020  10:50AM

Governor Kemp issued his Executive Order yesterday evening that  will require all Georgians to shelter in place from 6:00PM today until midnight on Monday, April 13th.

The governor's order also suspended all of the ordinances and resolutions that were recently passed by the Putnam County Board of Commissioners and the Eatonton City Council regarding the Coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis.  His order further prohibits any county commission or city council to pass any resolution or ordinance related to the pandemic from now through April 13th.

To see the details and specific prohibitions of the governor's order please go to https://gov.georgia.gov/executive-action/executive-orders/2020-executive-orders and click on Document 04.02.20.01 .

The Governor's Office has also published a 22-page handout that further interprets his order and defines the many exemptions to it.  We are unable to explain the content of that order any better than what the Governor's office has already published.  This is a the link to that handout:

I implore everyone to abide by the terms of Governor Kemp's Executive Order and remind you that violating his order constitutes the commission of a misdemeanor crime which is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to 12 months in jail.

Should you observe a violation of the governor's order and wish to report it, please utilize this link in making your complaint https://gov.georgia.gov/contact-us/constituent-services , .

As of today's date and time there are 2 cases of Coronavirus/COVID-19 in Putnam County and I fully expect there will be many more to come. Please keep yourself and your families safe and pray for our county, state, and nation in this time crisis.
