Employment Opportunities

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is seeking men and women for the positions of deputy sheriff and jailer. All applicants must minimally have a high school diploma or possess a GED. Successful applicants will also have to undergo an extensive background investigation along with polygraph and drug testing.

As the Sheriff’s Office never closes and operates 24 hours a day, the vacant positions will involve shift work and work assignments on holidays. In addition, applicants should be fully cognizant that their duties may very well place them in dangerous situations on a routine basis.

Applicants must have good verbal and writing skills and possess the ability to deal with the public in adverse conditions. Applicants must further have the physical agility and academic aptitude to successfully complete the police academy and other such training programs.

Preference may be given to applicants who are already Georgia Certified Peace Officers and Jailers.

Applications may be obtained at the Sheriff’s Office or will be mailed or emailed to you upon your request.
